Update: Trip to LA

I haven't written on the blog as of late because we actually took Spring Break off to try to relax, and gather all the information we received in LA, and after LA.  Lot's of questions and a lot of action as well as a plan of action.

First of all we would like to send our deepest condolences to our own Rachel Frey and her family.  They are healing from the tragic death of their father.  We love you!!!!!  Sending you positive healing energy and HUGE warm, loving surrounding hugs!

So. . . Jonathan left West Hollywood with basically two separate "Jobs."  I will talk about both but one at a time, as to not confuse you or I!

Music180:  Met with Eric Galen and his assistant, Shay Naqvi at The Standard Hotel, poolside.  During that meeting, Jonathan handed them the finished project (CD) he did with Peter Roberts and Gordon Pogoda.  At that time, without listening to the CD, Eric wanted to encourage Jonathan to be one of their songwriters and wanted to know if he would be willing to write for other artists as well as himself.  He has a gift for words and music.  Jonathan agreed and is compiling a group of 10 or so songs to show Eric, David and Shay his range of songwriting in different genres.  Since Jonathan has written more than 700 songs, (which made their jaws literally drop,) he has a lot to choose from!  Jonathan has been busy, gathering, editing, and challenging himself to get these in to Shay, by this Friday.
They also listened to the CD after we left, and LOVE the songs!  Jonathan is in contact with Gordon about one of the songs they wrote so they can convert the lyrics, so a female can sing it - making it much more versatile and marketable.  Once they do that, Music180 wants to pitch it to big named stars, such as Carrie Underwood and others.  So we shall see!

Jonathan also met with Peter Roberts, once again, before leaving LA.  It was a GREAT meeting!  Peter wants to work with Jonathan as an Artist AND songwriter.  Petet and Jonathan will work on a project where Jonathan will be performing his own songs.  Jonathan has sent him a few songs that they will be working on together starting this week.  Peter is right in the middle of a few other projects so he and Jonathan skype when they can and communicate through emails.  Once they get a couple of songs fine tuned, Jonathan will return to West Hollywood to go into the studio to record them.  Jonathan also sent Peter a song with one of Peter's other artists in mind.  If you haven't heard Aleesha, check her out!  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Aleeshaofficial/199434363402620?ref=ts

Well that's it for now - We hope this finds you Healthy and Happy Dancing!  Hearts and Hugs to all!

Day 10 or is it 11 or even 12? LOL

Today we are in San Francisco!  We arrived yesterday in the afternoon and took a nice walk down to the wharf.  It's a bit chilly here but not too bad!

Jonathan spent the morning skyping with Peter about a song that he had sent to him, that they will be working on together.  Once we are back in Oregon, Jonathan will be sending him more of his music.  Lot's of exciting things happening there.

The meeting with Music180 went really well.  They hold in their hands Jonathan's two songs that were just produced.  Not only are they working on developing him as an Artist, but they are also asking him to write for some Artists that don't know how to write.  So that is exciting as well.  It was a pleasure meeting Eric and Shay face to face!  Nice Guys!

There is more exciting things that are happening but we are purposefully being slow at giving out the information.  This trip was definitely a huge step up in the right direction for Jonathan, and we can not thank you enough!

We hope this finds you all Healthy, Happy Dancing, Hugs and Hearts!

Day 10

This afternoon is going to be so busy!  Canoga Park, then West Hollywood, then Studio City.  All in a three hour period of time!  Thank Goodness we slept well and the beautiful sun is shining!!!

These past 10 days have been chalked full of many exciting adventures for Jonathan!  Many new things are happening and we are not really able to share in detail what it is - as of now.
The songs that he recorded "What Were You Drinkin'" and "What If You Were Me" are turning out to be some of the best music Jonathan has thus far.
Peter Roberts, who is producing the songs is a five time Grammy nominee. He did the background vocals on Jonathan's songs - which is exciting in itself!  He is gracious, kind, encouraging, supportive and oozes talent!  We are meeting with him this afternoon, privately, to discuss working together again, soon.
Each step of this journey has brought more contacts, opportunities and put Jonathan one more wrung up the ladder of success.  It's hard work, perseverance and determination that keeps Jonathan moving forward.  With the support provided by all of you, he's doing a job that he loves and I am certain, you will not be disappointed in his progress thus far.

He looks forward to sharing his experiences with you, soon.  Sometime, in the weeks ahead, we will be announcing a date for a "THANK YOU BBQ" for donors and supporters.  At that time you will get a chance to talk with Jonathan about his experience thus far in the music industry all the while enjoying some delicious food and great company!

Jonathan just told me that he "can't wait to hear the new music!"

Hope this finds you all Healthy, Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs!

Day 9

Well change of plans for today.  We got to Santa Monica and the hotel around 11:30, only to find the streets lined with TV stations all watching the beach.  We then noticed that more people were watching the beach from the promenade the were down on the beach.  Gut feelings were churning.  As we looked down the walkway further, we noticed that Santa Monica Pier was empty with no rides running.  Weird.

We cancelled our stay in Santa Monica and B-lined it back to Sherman Oaks!  Whew.  We moved all our appointments to Tuesday and Wednesday so we could re-settle in.  We didn't get the same deal but we did get cheaper price for the rooms!  Woo hoo!!!!!

Hope this finds you all Healthy, Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs!!!!!

Day 9

Today we move to Santa Monica - yes it concerns us that there might be another tsunami - but we have appointments, meetings and life to go on for.  We started our day out involuntarily with an evacuation drill at 6:15 am.  Not fun.  It did provide us with knowledge that we need to be ready to move at a moments notice and have certain things with us.  We will be ready for the next one.

Stopping by Peter Roberts studio today.  He wants to discuss "business" with Jonathan.  Can't wait to see how that turns out!

Hope this finds everyone Healthy and your families and friends safe.  Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs.

Day 6 and 7

Sorry that there hasn't been a post for two days!  Very long days and late nights!  Yesterday was full of mixing and balancing and whatever else goes into producing two songs!  It was full of laughter and craziness and fun!
Today Jon has a day off (Day 8) and he's going to relax and chill.  We were going to hit the beach but. . . well. . . mother nature made other plans for us!  Even though the beaches are open again, we are going to give it another day or two!

Jonathan and I hope that if you had friends and/or family over in Japan that they are all safe and out of harms way.  We have heard from about half of our friends but we are keeping positive thoughts for those we have not heard from.

Hope this finds you all Healthy!  Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs to you all!!!

Day 5

Good Morning! Yesterday was magical!  I took lots of video and pictures to share later of Jonathan working very hard in the studio!  Peter Roberts is an extraordinary man who just oozes music!  So funny, kind, encouraging!  Great to see Gordon again!  Jill Mackor joined us in the studio to observe the ins and outs.  Awesome to have her there!  The main vocals were recorded and most of the background vocals.  Today is putting it all together and beginning a new song.

Hope you all are Healthy, Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs!!!!

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Day 4

Today was spent preparing for the studio tomorrow!  Practicing, chatting with Gordon.  Song changes, etc.  Went to the Mall to break up the day and just walked around mostly.  It was a beautiful 72+ here in LA today.  So good to feel the suns warmth and see the blue sky!  California is so green right now because of the rain!  Great to see!
Tomorrow is going to be Jonathan's first long day of recording!  He will have a small break around 4 to grab a bit to eat but it will be constant work.  He is very grateful!

More tomorrow and maybe a picture or two!

Hope all is well with everyone!  Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs!!!

Monday, March 7, 2011

Day 3

Had an uneventful drive to SUNNY LA!!!!!  Our room was upgraded to a suite because they had mixed up my reservation!  No charge!  Have to love that!!!
Jonathan just got off the phone with Gordon Pogoda - he's had like 3 or 4 today.  He and Peter are very excited with the way the tracks are going down in the studio!  Jonathan can't wait to get in there and record the vocals!
Tomorrow is laundry day and prep day!  Recording begins Wednesday!!!!
We hope all is well with everyone!

Happy Dancing!  Hearts and Hugs!

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Day 2!

Howdy from Lodi, California, home of. . .  I haven't a clue!  This is the second leg of the trip to LA and Jonathan is doing GREAT!!!!!  Probably could have traveled farther today but the torrential down pours made seeing a bit difficult at times!
Tomorrow we head for Sherman Oaks where we will be for at least 7 days.  Can't wait to 'settle' in one area for a bit!
Thank you again to all who made this trip possible for Jonathan!  We should have a party when we get back!!  Hope everyone is safe, happy and healthy!

Happy Dancing, Hearts and Hugs!

Pogoda!
Jonathan and Gordon co-wrote
two wonderful songs together!

This cast and crew were incredible to
work with!
They joined the team thinking they
were doing one video and ended up
doing a completely different concept all
together!

After hours and hours of rehearsal,
Jonathan was just not happy with what
was going on.  While everything was
perfect on paper and performance, it
was not what he had in mind as a
portrayal of his song
IT’S ALRIGHT TO FALL IN LOVE

So we gathered together, the Director,
